Hidden Dome: Beginnings
Monday 30 July, 2018

Our launch event took place in the refurbished Old Church that houses string instrument store Simply For Strings, featuring composer/improviser and erhu player Jasmin Leung, contemporary folk singer and cellist Monique Clare, and neo-classical/minimalist trio Sprout.

"As its name suggests, Hidden Dome was as intimate as it was inviting, and it was heart-warming to see a full audience of Brisbane’s arts-loving community gathered in support for this great initiative." - Celine Chong for CutCommon

"For the entirety of [Jasmin] Leung's performance, the assembled crowd stayed deathly silent; gripping tightly to each strangled squeak and metallic squall. [...] Hidden Dome, an unproven event series with artists of great variety and varying accessibility held at a violin shop outside the CBD, enjoyed a capacity crowd on its opening." - MJ O'Neill's Weekly Noise Bulletin

Hidden Dome: Rumblings
Sunday 9 December, 2018

Our second event was an introspective afternoon at The Baby Grand in West End, featuring guitarist Libby Myers, free improvisation quartet Pedal and singer/composer Tiana Naug.

Libby Myers
Libby Myers is a classical guitarist from Brisbane, Australia.  She has performed across Australia, Spain and the US and performs regularly with the Rosa Guitar Trio, an ensemble known for their energetic and joyful performances of diverse repertoire. For this show, Libby will be performing Sofia Gubaidulina’s Serenade, Paul Stanhope’s Dance for the White Spirits and selections of Amy Brandon’s works for guitar and electronics.

Pedal
Pedal is an ensemble that explores the ideas of homogeneous ensemble sound and time as a central musical focus. Each member of the group draws on their experience in performance, improvisation and composition from their varied backgrounds in jazz, classical, electronic and experimental music.
Pedal is Loni Fitzpatrick - harp, Caleb Colledge - percussion, Brodie Mcallister - bass and Luke Cuerel - saxophone.

Tiana Naug w/ Rohan Seekers
Tiana will be performing freshly written original compositions in a duo format with long term collaborator, Rohan Seekers. Departing from her usual 4-7 piece soul outfits, 'Tiana Khasi' & Astro Travellers, the duo will explore songs that fit neither 'here nor there' in existing projects. Think jazz influenced harmony, raw vocals, electronic hum with a chance of dissonance.
